Joseph Beck was a noted attorney in Fort Madison and served as Chief Justice of the
Iowa Supreme Court in the mid-19th century. In 1850 he built the home at 7th and E, which
is now on the National Historic Register. From the lace-curtained window you will see a
beautiful view of Old Fort Madison, a restored steam engine, the Mississippi River Bridge,
a boat dock and of course the Mississippi River.
